I got home at around 3pm and there was only enough wind for the big kit, so decided to wait a bit as it was forecast to pick up...

It sure did, within an hour it was blowing nicely so i headed acros to the beach and rigged my wave board and 5m sail. One run out and back and it was obvious that I needed something smaller, so quickly changed down to my 4.5m set as flat as possible as really I could have done with a 4m sail.

The smaller sail was better and I blasted out throught the surf, jumping off every wave and just going mad. I was completely overpowered and it was complete mayhem out there, but I was loving it!!

The wave riding on the way back in was good as I was able to bottom turn hard and get vertical to hit the lip as I had so much power in the sail that it was easy to just crank it back around off the lip. I started going for backside aerail off the lips and made some really nice ones (That has to be my favourite manouvre). I cranked it around a little too hard at one point though and dnapped the screw holding my back strap in. So, it was back up the beach to get a screw out of another board before getting back out on the water for some more hectic action.

This time I was going for donkey kicks and big jumps, and managed to scare myself a few times and just had to bail out from the biggest of the jumps. At one point I landed one on the tail so hard that the whole board submerged, as did I. Despite being stood up over the board I ended up completely submerged in the standing position still in the straps. I popped back out and discovered I was goiggling to myself. Not sure if it was relief at still being alive or just the fun of it.

As the sesion progressed, the swell gradually increased in size until I often found myself screaming down the face of some monsters. Once again I found myself laughing out loud as I was having such a good time.

An excellent session in mad mad conditions.
